November News from St Richard’s Hospice

With the festive season approaching, St Richard’s Hospice is reflecting on loved ones who are no longer with us. This November they will once again celebrate and remember cherished lives through their Lights of Love events.

Lights of Love 2025

Two services will take place at Worcester Cathedral on Friday, 21 November, at 2.30pm and 7pm.
The evening service will be followed by the lighting of the Lights of Love tree in the gardens of St Andrew’s Spire, where the names of loved ones will be displayed on banners.

Both services and the tree switch-on are free to attend and open to all.

For 2025, the hospice has also introduced a limited edition Lights of Love tree decoration. These are available for £6 online, from the hospice shop, or at the services.

Pumpkin Planters Bring Autumn Cheer

A recent autumn-themed workshop at the hospice gave patients the chance to connect with nature, socialise and create their own seasonal pumpkin planters to take home.

One Donation, Double the Impact

St Richard’s is taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge, asking supporters to help them “Pay for Christmas Day.”

If you are planning to make a festive donation, you can double its impact by donating between:

12pm Tuesday, 2 December to 12pm Tuesday, 9 December

During this period, donations will be matched pound for pound thanks to generous supporters of the hospice.

More details, including the donation link, will be shared in the December newsletter.

Thank You for Giving with Care

The hospice is grateful for everyone who donates items to their shops across Worcestershire. With winter approaching, they especially welcome:

  • Knitwear

  • Coats

  • Hats and scarves

  • Other quality cold-weather clothing

On average, only 55 percent of donated items can be resold. Items that are damaged, unclean or missing safety information must be disposed of, which carries a cost for the hospice.

Thank you to everyone who donates with care.
